Following a period of sustained growth, expansion into new countries and major acquisitions, TomTom recognised the need for a corporate-wide intranet to provide a single point of access to company information, branding and product lines, information sharing and a centralised directory.
With substantial internal IT capabilities, TomTom had developed its own intranet in 2006; other business in the group had also established intranet sites but a single intranet, that could connect and support all worldwide staff, including its mobile workforce, was a major priority. TomTom adopted SharePoint 2010 as its intranet platform and planned to design the site structure before identifying a partner with the expertise to turn the vision into reality.
