Nokia Siemens Networks is a leading enabler of communication services. The company is one of the top three vendors in the telecommunications infrastructure industry and continues the legacy of two industry champions – Nokia and Siemens. With the merger of these companies came the need to consolidate the real-estate assets and frequently evaluate the terms of existing leases. The previous custom solution was built on top of a third party, proprietary platform and consisted of two tools; Program Management and Global Property Database.
The significant licensing costs and limited skill-sets on the platform were just a few of the issues that the team faced. In addition, the control of the solution by the central IT function within the organisation led to a large amount of bureaucracy and time-delays in responding to change requests.
