SharePoint Saturday Stockholm wrap-up

Over the weekend of Jan 25th – 26th I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the SharePoint Saturday Stockholm (SPSSTHLM) event. I was invited to deliver a session on ‘SharePoint 2013 hybrid deployments’ and to participate in an ‘Ask the Masters’ session.

SharePoint Saturday Stockholm wrap-up

This was a really great event with some awesome sessions delivered by a number of SharePoint MCMs, MVPs, not to mention local experts. The entire event was hosted and delivered brilliantly end to end with excellent participation from attendees reminding me exactly why I attend SharePoint Saturday events as often as I can and why it is such a pleasure to be invited to participate.

At SPSSTHLM I was invited to deliver a session on ‘SharePoint 2013 hybrid deployments’ and to participate in an ‘Ask the Masters’ session. The ‘Ask the Masters’ session, rather self-explanatorily, had the aim of driving open discussion around complex technical scenarios and issues to deliver targeted valuable insights to attendees. My session on hybrid deployments was focused on how hybrid environments that use SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Online can fuse together the very best elements of both systems, and offer a seamless experience to end-users when implemented correctly. I covered environment infrastructure, the identity management infrastructure and SharePoint integration, using Search as a real-world example.

This session on hybrid deployments attracted a large number of attendees, the majority of whom were armed with some really interesting business scenarios and use cases. Many of the audience were looking for ideas and solutions to satisfy particular issues and complexities when considering running workloads in both a SharePoint on-premises deployment and a SharePoint Online tenant. This was a recipe for some widely engaging conversations that were hopefully captured in the video recording of the session, which we will provide a link to as soon as it becomes available.

For now though, I’ve shared the slides that I presented here, which I hope will be of some interest to those of you looking to learn a little more about the supported Hybrid scenarios and overall configuration process.
