BrightStarr has rebranded to Unily - visit us at unily.com for the latest on intranets and the digital workplace.
TomTom, a producer of navigation and mapping products as well as state-of-the-art sports watches, wanted to unite its organization and drive collaboration among 3000 employees through a central business entity, a new SharePoint intranet. The intranet that BrightStarr created for TomTom incorporated features such as intelligent document management for organization as well as multi-lingualism to cross language barriers, enabling all employees to be savvy about internal activities and accomplishments.
It was important to TomTom to control access to various sensitive elements of the business including corporate branding, service/product lines, and employee information. The new intranet not only has various permissions capabilities, but also allows for targeting communications based on employee profiles (location, department, skills) so that only relevant news reaches their homepages.
To drive a great user experience, BrightStarr adopted a user-centered design philosophy and multi-stage process in which the needs, wants and limitations of the end user are given extensive attention through analysis and validity testing at each stage of the design process.
In order to keep employees informed and educated about company-wide news and business interests, TomTom needed a platform to disseminate information worldwide. Their new intranet does this seamlessly, whilst also increasing collaboration with brand new social features that connect disparate employees.
In addition to providing a single platform for the distribution of company information, the intranet encourages the adoption of a single, worldwide culture and image and is an invaluable resource for the sharing of information between staff, leading to increased productivity and a more effective and efficient operation. Bringing employees together within a common culture of the organization boosts employee pride, morale, and ultimately creates higher adoption of TomTom’s intranet because of the ease with which employees can reach out to one another using the People Directory, Yammer, and other social features of the new intranet.
With the site now live, and the key objective of helping to build a common culture across offices and organizations achieved, the system is undergoing a period of continuous enhancements as new services are brought online.
Partnering with BrightStarr has been a very positive experience. They worked well with our internal teams, and had the high levels of expertise and experience to deliver the solution that we needed – on time and in budget.
